Stitch The Season 2025 ( part 1)

Do little projects draw you in when you're working on other projects? having something quick & a little simple to work on in between big projects especially when we have to have those walk away moments justifies them ,right?🤣 This is the sweetest little stitching journal, the 1st prompt is vertical

I came across this in the middle so there's some catching up to do, its still early in the day ,not even 11:00 yet so I'll get this page stitched down & get back to the quilts

we had a freezing 27 degrees yesterday morning, everything outside was iced over but it slowly warmed up to the 50's by 2:00 so I made a run for it to the park with Grace & Sadie

We weren't there near as long as we wanted for as quickly as it warmed up the temps started dropping again

Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful..

Trincerual downpours, straight line winds, possible tornados, mother natures got an attitude today, but she did go out leaving us a beautiful rainbow 🌈

In between the downpours I managed to get to the store for a few things ,I try to avoid going to the store if all possible the day before a holiday, around here fighting  those last minute shoppers is suicidal 🤣🤣
picked up Sadie, she will be with us for the week, the weather's supposed to be rainy off & on but hopefully we can get in at least one adventure ,one of the Camila bushes has bloomed

rainy days calls for comfort food & one of my favorites is orzo,so simple & so good ,all you need is
1-lb.ground beef more or less depending how much you want,1 can rotel I cant take much heat so I use the traditional, beef or chicken broth
cook beef, drain, add rotel, 1c. orzo,2c.broth, bring to a boil stirring regularly then reduce heat & continue cooking on low covered, stirring occasionally till orzo is done, usually takes less than 10 min
Pairs well with a big ole pice of cornbread 😄

The Elves Were Busy Today!

From ornament assembly to fluffing trees made for the beginning of a fun filled day with my little elves

They were determined they could put the top in lol

While waiting on the pizza guy we got our cookie dough together

After pizza while the dough was chilling we walked with the neighbor Ms Anette, when we got back around to her house we had a sweet visit  with her & a glass of lemonade, then back to the house to bake our cookies ,tested out the new gingerbread cookie cutters,I didn't think they'd like the taste of ginger bread so we made regular sugar cookie dough

So there you have it, ornament sorting, tree fluffing & decorating, christmas movies, pizza ,walking, cookie making, baking & eating lol

Fabric Search Complete

In an earlier post there is the bird quilt that I'd made for a local quilt shop contest

My little great grand niece fell in luv with it,then both her & her brother fell in luv with the Christmas strip top I'd just made, when asked if they'd like a Christmas  quilt they both said no, the talk of dinosaurs came up but she was still set on the birds  , so I suggested since I had to make a dinosaur quilt how about a more girly bird quilt with lots of pink since mine looks like Christmas " red& green" she was on board with that.

Fabrics for Casons dinosaur quilt

I went to the fabric shop yesterday & found these to go with the bird print for Livvy's quilt

I'm not sure how much I'll  get started on these between now & tomorrow as they will spend the day with me tomorrow & there's a big day planned with more tree decorating, cookie baking, movie breaks ,ordering pizza & eating the cookies😄

Just A Little Pincushion Sewing

My eardrum finally cleared up but now the left ear canal is closed making it hard to hear so I'm taking meds for that ,I missed sewing this past week & needed to make something, anything, just make something,😄 so I finished the pincushions that I fussy cut,the snowman was too poofy so I unstuffed & redid it

I know its not much but it's something!😄I've decided on  a block layout for my great grand nieces & nephews quilts for christmas & will get those cut out this weekend

Forgotten UFO'S

Four years into this little house & I'm still finding things 🤔 I'm guessing 10 if not more years ago when I was part of a quilting class at the local quilt shop after Terry passed away ,al the fabrics & instructions are still in tack & Im thinking I have all the pinwheel blocks completed & had just started on the flying geese blocks ,it will be a good one to pull out & complete come Spring

I have found that the scrap papper bins are best to keep projects together & in tack ,below was the makings of a Christmas table topper, everythings cut out, labeled & numbered ,a project perhaps for Christmas  in July in the upcoming new year

Last night I started on some random Christmas projects ,todays the last day of meds & I'll be so glad to get outta this foggy feeling & get back to some serious sewing,I have Christmas quilts to make!😄

On The Mends To Feeling Better & New Plans For The Red & White

Two more days of antibiotics,I have been sleeping & sleeping some more all week long 😄 I will do a follow up to make sure the ear drum is all cleared  up,todays been the first day that I haven't felt like I was in a fog , finally the red & white fabric had its last chance to redeem itself

Never have I had such trouble with fabric as I've had with this, Waverly fabric does good & has a slightly soft texture but when I went back & looked at the name of fabrics it just said Cotton  ,so I'd had enough! When I'd sewn on  different fabrics in my stash the machine acted just fine but this oh my goodness what a mess ! I was so mad at it I didn't even want to thifft it🤣 so into the garbage , yardages, blocks & all it went🤣

Meanwhile,I got out just for a little while today to get some art supplies for my watercolor classes ,went by the fabric shop where the real fabric lives& found this luscious red & white😄 I also found some cute dinosaur 🦖 print  to make a quilt for my little nephew for Christmas which I'll share later

I'm hoping to get back to my normal routine in the sewing room by Monday & maybe cut into my new red ,& white fabric

Ear Infection

Random earaches come & go but this one started with the feeling  of my eardrum being pricked with a needle ,the same feeling I got a yr ago when I had pollen get down into my ear canal, I haven't been sick, been in any bad wind ,of or downfalls so I figured itd subside & go away & it didn't,I woke up yesterday morning with severe pain & popping like firecrackers,it was all I could do to drive myself to the Dr.

Antibiotics, steroids, Tylenol, ibuprofen, Mucinex twice a day ,those steroids are nasty little things especially when the dosage is 3🤢 the tylenol is to combat any fever trying to pop up, the ibuprofen is for pain, the Mucinex has got something in it for swelling & pain

My eardrum is swollen & severely infected ,I asked him if I weas to take all of these together & he said yes ! we are trying to avoid your eardrum bursting

Meanwhile Sadies mom had to have surgery today so they brought her late yesterday evening & James will pick her up early this afternoon after her gets Molly home & settled, today is Graces birthday & they're put out with me because we're not having any fun, I had plans to take them to Oak Mountain, its about an hr drive but so worth it, this us their peak for Fall follage, I'll for sure have to make it up to them after I get through this

What A Mess !

I spent the better part of the day working on 2 more rows, calling myself checking the back from time to time ,& smoothing it out but now it wants to buckle, I've never had such a problem keeping the batting & backing smooth so I blame it on the batting, its a brand I've never used before,it has a beige tint & a slight thicker texture, its all Michaels has

At this point I'm  not sure if I want to rip out these 2 rows or rip all 4 out & find a better batting, would glueing it down help? I've never used the fabric glue on my quilts but Im willing to give it a try before ditching the whole thing

Playing With Red & White

I've been a little under the weather, not feeling like doing much of anything but sleep but I managed to stitch 2 more rows on the 16 patch quilt & play around with the idea of a red & white checkered board quilt

I cut the fabrics 3" width  of fabric ,it may of been because Im not feeling  good ,that long length bout beat me down😄 so I cut it into 19"strips & sewed 6 rows together

then I cut it onto 3" strips

alternating & lining them up

then sewing them together in sets of 2

after sewing all the stripes together & giving it a final trim it came out at 15",later I'll figure out how many It'll take for a good lap size

Slowly Quilting Along

I've pulled out the 16 patch quilt  & working on stitching a few more rows ,just taking it slow & easy today, our crazy weather caused me to click the heat on even knowing better 🤣 for it wasn't long it got to hot so between that & trying to do too much painting at one time ot bout made me sick , I'm not sick but I feel like I've been ran over by a truck 😄 so just working on this a little at a time &  deciding which pattern to go with for my solid red & solid white fabric

Watercolor Homework Day 1

I was so glad to get all this done only to have done it wrong,we all did🤣when you have over 10 pages to read you're bound to miss something,we all painted darkest to lightest going down, somehow we all missed the part that said start at the top rows on all 9 cards then go med to lightest med, lightest to highest light by dragging the brush across the block to an opue stage,my lines are too thin somehow the thicker line effects the paint when it goes over the line getting a faded look  so we all gotta do our homework over🤣

each block should be faded at the end, we all laughed & I asked if we flunk can we repeat the course half off,she laughed & said no with yal itd have to be trippel🤣

Watercolor techniques are so different than acrylic & this is certainly going to be an exciting journey
