Are You Ready For February?

 February comes & goes so fast ,speaking of fast, where'd January go? LoL do you work on little projects in-between big projects? I don't decorate per say for Valentine's but made a few hearts keeping a cottage feel,my niece already wants some in neutral colors LoL 

In the upcoming months I want to revisit the world of crocheting,it's been over 30 years so I figure I'll have to reteach myself LoL I love this book I found at JoAnn's the pictures are large & very detailed in step by step ,there's even a chapter for left handers! 

meanwhile I'm finishing up more projects  ,RSC color for Feb is blue,still not sure if I'm ready to join in  ,although I do have ideals of a blue quilt 😁 but we'll just take it one day at a time

Grace & Sadies Project Day

 This project day is brought to you  by Grace & Sadie 😆  there are times when I can get that perfect shot of the two of them then there's those 1 out of 10🤣 but the captions that I catch from them.are priceless 

I had posted the finished top in a previous post & was hoping to have it finished & ready to deliver this past Sunday but my machine started acting up ,tension going crazy ,bobbin  jamming you name it 😆 so I took the two rows out  & decided to hand stitch it  ,it will finish out to about a 49x49  if I don't decide to make it bigger lol but the recipient is only 4 so 49x49 may be big enough for snuggling, what do you think?

I've been working on a few small projects & culling out some things first was the kitchen ,now the closet for the 3rd time🤣1st was to organize & give it a boutique look,2nd ground was to fill out what didn't fit,they say 3's the charm ,things that fit but no longer brings me joy & getting it ready for #4 😆 yes #4 lol everything out shelves & all ,new paint color,new shelving & hanging layout,im super excited for my niece & nephew to help me get this project going this spring 

Oh How I Hate When That Happens! LoL

 When is your happy place not so happy? ,for me is still  happy just not so much when the serger jams & breaks the threads 😆 it doesn't matter if just one or all break ,they all have to be redone & as old as it is it still takes me about 5 tries 🤣

 

It's a rainy morning & since I'm not serging anything that requires serging  in this moment I'll focus on rainy day projects like finishing up this lap quilt

🤔 I'm thinking pillows,padded hangers,slow stitching.......anything to keep me away from that serger 🤣

Sneak Peek For Saturday

 It was a chilly 19 degrees this morning ,warming up but not much it will continue to stay in the teens for the weekend,cold busy mornings call for easy,quick but good comforting foods ,coffee & grilled Swiss cheese on rye bread to start the day 

It's too cold for park adventures for the girls 🐕🐕 so it's an inside project for today,here's a sneak Peek 

Feeding The Birds

 We have sweet Sadie again  for a few days ,  their curiosity , expressions & poses makes for the funniest captions

It's been a little bit warmer today but still cold & it wasn't long till the wind got up & nasty,poor birds bout couldn't hang on to the feeders🤣 getting feeders filled & replacing frozen water to fresh in the bird feeder has been the only highlight of the day😆

Some type of sewing is in the forecast for tomorrow  whether large or small 😆

Working On Quilt Blocks & Yummy Sandwiches

 Trying to finish 2024 RSC quilt ,I've decided not to join in the 2025 until I get this one along with a few other UFO's out of  the way ,perhaps somewhere along in Feb . we'll see how it goes,meanwhile I think this block is my favorite so far

I'm still deciding whether to go for an over sized lap or full size ,as of now there's  24  / 12" blocks

Cold weather & good sewing days calls for quick & easy comfort food

This is all you need to make this yummy sandwich 

CORN BEEF AND CABBAGE SANDWICH 

corn beef(sliced thin from the deli)

Lorraine cheese(I used the Swiss with the holes)

shredded cabbage(found in the produce)

Cole slaw dressing(found in the dressing isle)

butter

mix Cole slaw dressing to shredded cabbage to taste( a little goes a long way)

add a thick layer of corn beef, Cole slaw mixture, cheese, then repeat layers

melt butter in skillet & grill sandwich

This is also good with roast beef , I know this because I wasn't paying attention & picked up the roast beef 🤣🤣

Grace always gets excited when there's a new quilt in the works,she knows that means snuggle on the couch time lol there's no telling her it's not a quilt yet for in her mind if it looks like a quilt,feels like a quilt ,it's a quilt 🤣

A Little Slow Stitching

While working on my stitch journal I looked up the history of the flying geese block I came across this link

The flying geese block was a momimental symbol that helped slaves find safety & allies ,a sign to follow the path of the geese , a symbol of hope

There are 12 blocks to the underground railroad quilt,did you know that the bear claw quilt when  hung on a porch rail represented a safe place to eat. for slaves on their journey to freedom along with other clues in the quilt? Lots of interesting History on quilt blocks we have come to love for our quilts 

I had these little corners from previous blocks ,flying geese is on my quilt bucket list, maybe I'll add the underground railroad quilt to the list,after all what's one more right? LoL

Playing around with the idea to add an  appliqued geese on the bottom ,slow stitching is the perfect name for these journals ,I think that it is more time consuming than stitching on a quilt lol it's been a while since I picked it up, this was the last one I did

Slow indeed! LoL but that's ok ,but I do know it's time to venture into all the wonderful beautiful stitches just waiting to be learned so basically this one is a learning process but the next one in my mind is wow! wow!wow! 🤣

What Did I Make Today?

 My dress form died on me last year , I'd taped it together so many times till it just wasn't working anymore lol but I have my eye on a new one at Joann's,just waiting on the sale,this mannequin's slick as glass but was gifted to me so I try not to fuss to much lol, practicing on fabric  gifted from a friend before cutting into my nicer fabrics,still heming & interfacing to go & may need some size adjusting 

Homemade chocolate pudding & orange chicken,the orange chicken is a frozen kit for I'd rather be doing around the house than cooking today 

Thinking Of Spring

 I know it's hard to think about Spring when we're just getting into Winter with freezing temps & messy rains & ice but the time for prepping those Spring flowers is now,I came across a link that had over 18 flower seeds to start now indoors to be ready by Spring ,here are just a few to get you inspired 

I absolutely love Holly Hocks but didn't have much success with them but I've found a nursery  an hour from me that carries them ,I think it's be worth the drive to get them already potted & ready for transplanting, have you dreamed of Spring yet or is on the back burner of your mind? I'm not an expert on flowers but I do love to tinker around in the yard as well as rescue plants off of Lowes death row in the garden center & nurse them back to health ,Spring will be here quicker than we think & me & my new journal are ready!😄
