 Got the blocks webbed together 

I have luved this technique of joining rows together  ever since I seen it on Terri Rowlands You Tube channel ,it keeps the rows together & in order till you're ready to sew them together

they fold over each other nicely to fold & set aside while cutting out the borders 

Stop Over Thinking & Just Get Her Done & A Day Filled With Wonders!

 It finally dawned on me no matter which way I turned the strips its not going to give a solid look in the background because of the prints,so just pick a way & do it! tomes a wasting!😄 I lowered the ironing board to the level of the desk made myself a cubby hole😄

Coffee was a must

making sure everything was squared up evenly for I'd noticed a few were off just a scant

making double sure the birds were right side up

one more row to finish tweaking Im thinking of adding one more row but I wont think on that long😄 

next up is borders, Im glad a made a cake to help me through these decisions 🤣

this is my moms butternut pound cake recipe,Im not sure how long she had it but Im shy of 70 & have had it in my recipe collection for 50 yrs, 🤔I think its cast aluminum 🤷I know its heavy!😄she bought sometime back in the 60's, it got passed down  to my sister then to my niece & now to me & still going strong!

the hummingbirds are starting to appear around the feeder,you have to be quick to catch a shot of them & very still😄

speaking of birds little mama wren laid another egg ,now there are 4

I gave the purple tomatoes a go in my salad today with strawberry  vinaigrette dressing , I'm not sure how to describe the taste,they're not meaty  like the reds but more smooth texture,the dark color reminds me of a pomegranate  coloring,paired with steak seasoned with butter mixed with parsley ,dill, jarred garlic, rub it onto the steak,wrap & let it sit for about 30 min,cook in a skillet on low ,I added more of the seasoned butter when I turned it & when I plated it,you wouldn't think it'd come out tender but it was amazingly tender! This is one of my favorite go to steak recipes 

Sunday Inspiration

 

Its Been A Good Day

 No sewing today, in the cool of the morning I sat under the crep myrtle tree & shelled the purple hull peas  sipping tea,watching the birds & the critters

gathered the  dandelions & the roses ,left some for the bees of course😁 gave them a good water & vinegar soak

 laid them them out to dry then they'll get dehydrated in the oven

found a nest in one of my plants on the Lani

Mr lizard showed up & showed out

Got the collards,squash,butterfly bushes,tomatoes  & a few zinnias planted as the day came to an end, after a good shower called for a good supper, purple hull peas,yellow squash,yams,fresh tomatoes, rotisserie chicken browned in butter

came across another good idea for block ideas using up my scraps,she shows two different ways to make the same block, do you have a list of quilts you want to make?

Update On Final Layouts

 Welll 🤔I think its the final.layout 😄 remember yesterday  the machine bit me & I walked away?🤣 when I came back I got all the blocks & strip sets sewn 

I laid the blocks out on the bed to get a better visual,the pinks are showing up more reddish ,this is with the pink on top

then I noticed some of the pinks were lighter then realized I'd sewn them to the wrong side of the green🙆 so 9 get to meet the seam ripper,I knew there was a reason why I'd bought a new one 🤣

If this was just another regular quilt I was making I'd mix & blend them throughout the layout like it was ment to be but with this one being in a judged show ,I don't think so 👀 walk away again? yes I did 🤣 after realizing the first go round that I was using the wrong fabric,I went to the fabric shop for more of the pinkish print & it was a good thing Id walked away,the fabric was nowhere to be found,he room had been replaced with all Fall & Christmas fabrics🙆 I showed the girl my piece I'd taken & asked it it looked familiar,she smiled & said yes ,that was in our sale room,we cut all of those fabrics into bundles, as she looked between the bundles ,shed found 3,I asked if she could pull the pinks out & she did!😁

I knew this quilt was just waiting for me to get back to fight me again🤣 so I drove on over to the produce market & grabbed some yellow squash,purple hull peas & tomatoes,

have you ever tasted a purple tomato? I cant believe I never have lol I'll let you know how that goes in a few days,meanwhile the red took center stage in my rotisserie chicken sandwich,while at Sam's my friend Ree grabbed me a chicken & the buns I picked up from my grocery s bakery ,they come 4 to a pack & so worth it 

 then swing by Lowes & got a few bags of potting soil,I knew Id eventually have to go home ,why was that quilt fighting me so? 🤣 I told you it was waiting on me ,as I walked into the sewing room there it was! the backing fabric glaring at me making me overthink my pink fabric choices 

Goodnight sewing room! Goodnight Quilt! I'm done with you!🤣🤣

When It's Time To Walk Away

 I know its a little early to walk away seeings I just got started good this morning 🤣 first on the agenda since my friend Ree got my Brother machine straightened out I decided I'd use it 🙆it bit a hole in me!😄

So after I addressed this with ointment & 🩹 bandaid,I was on a good roll sewing strips together to make the inbetween blocks,the more I looked at the layout something seemed  off but I kept going

As I'm trying to decide which way i like the in-between blocks flipped there it was!👀 the darker wasn't cranberry at all but brown with teeny tiny leaves, this goes with a Fall panel & other fabrics I'd bought for a Fall quilt ,plus they were cut too wide 

🙆where was my pretty pink?

Then I noticed there was only one yard which means if I choose for the blocks to be flipped with the pink on top I'll need more,but its been almost a month ,will they have more?🤷

with this layout the pink becomes the background & border like the top pictures with the wrong color 😄

I will get them all cut before sewing any together,once the strips are sewn to the bird blocks I cant flip them,it will turn the birds upside down😄

Lawd have mercy what a morning!😄 so Im going to walk away & ponder the situation over a little ice cream🤣 then first things first go the the fabric shop for more pink fabric

And so it starts🤣 Im so glad I cut just one to begin with ,perhaps not enough coffee lol ,going over everything my eye rested on 9 1/2 X 9 1/2  cut I cut just 1 & it didn't look right,it looked way to fat

🤔ok so these blocks are supposed to be 6 1/2 X 9 1/2

There no saving it because I wont have the 9 1/2 length thank goodness I only cut one & caught I was cutting the wrong size ,I would of just died if I'd cut 30 this way 🤣

Good Night Sewing Room! See You In The Morning!

 Technically its morning like 2 am 😄The seeing room got cleaned & organized today

fabrics are laid out & ready for cutting & block assembly 🤔I forgot to wind my bobbins, oh well Im not getting outta this bed 🤣

Do You Clean To Make a Mess?🤣

 I'm giving the sewing room a good organizing & cleaning this morning ,a few weeks back Id took one of the 3 drawer totes out & incorporated it into the kitchen pantry which ment all those fabrics had nowhere to go but to the floor temporarily 😄& since the closet is part of the room decor it needed to be delt  with

The drawer totes under the table holds patterns & projects cut & ready to start,they will come out temporarily when I start quilting on the juried quilt,it will stay on the cutting table ,for the most part I've sorted a few categories,Id seen quilts made with prints  white backgrounds which looked good so Im putting those together as I come to them

I do want to make a few Summer pillows so Im putting  those prints together as I come to them

I'd seen on one of my You Tube pages I follow an idea to make 3 quilts ,the 1st being the main, the 2nd add 1 new color,the 2nd add 2 new colors ,this is the fabric left from the sample top of the pattern Im using for the one the be judged

I came across this peacock feathery type print that has these teals & blues & adds a touch of purple but I wont think past that for now as that'll be further down the road as Im also thinking of solid pink but I cant ket my mind go there just yet🤣

So I'll finish putting the closet area back together , do a good vacuuming & proceed to cut the fabrics cut & ready for block assembly & binding 

The photo shoot for the green quilt was an epic fail 😄 I was nearing the finish line when I noticed one spot was receding ,now sure how it creepy crawled up  ,but Im going to have to undo & sew a strip of the fabric,"hoping I have a piece left big enough" ,trim & bind it back
