Lets Make It Bigger"Or Not"

Having 2 orphan blocks from this quilt top make me have thoughts of making it bigger

The original plan for it was to be an oversize lap quilt, surely it wouldn't take to many to upgrade it to a full🤷 so I pulled out the scraps & started pressing & cutting

Mid way the light bulb went off 😄 each block is made up of (16) 5" squares ,8 rows across & 10 down will require cutting out  288 more 5" squares🤷 I think I had a moment when I shouldn't of been thinking🤣 so should I let well enough slone or carry on? maybe just add borders?🤷

Meanwhile Sadie says its fine the way it is & to wake her when its finished🤣

I'm not sure if my great grand niece &  nephew's keeping me young or pushing me over the edge🤣 but I do know they are medicine for my soul ,long story short about christmas my husband & me jad always hosted what we called tour of lights for family & a few friends, with every room decked out plus outside we started in Oct ,these two sweeties told me this past Sunday they wanted to het started so we did lol, with all the breaks in between like swinging, brick forts, pizza picnics, cartoons, tree climbing ,making peanutbutter ballas etc.,we managed to get one tree done

speaking of getting things done, I've been wanting
to cook on the grill what seems like forever & good fresh veggies, yesterday I picked up one if my nieces & off to the produce market we went, after I dropped her off & got back home I fired up the grill & got some veggies going on the stove,it was going on 5:00 before I got to sit down & enjoy the fruits of my labor but ohhh so worth it! grilled chop, green beans with new potatoes, yellow squash & onions, sliced tomatoes

It looks like a rainy day today but our weathers funny that way,you think its going to rain then its like never mind lets do 80 today😄 as far as I know I'm planning on today being a stay home day🤣 the plans are to cook up a few more veggies,Its been a while since I've cooked a variety of things to be able to make a good plate of yumminess for a few days, get the laundry done,& sewing,do I need to day that last one again?🤣

Grace doing a final inspection  on our first tree

There will come a day when it'll be beyond repair but not today , perhaps  I need to name it my Linus blankie🤣

Are You Making Christmas Quilts Yet?

Stepping into  hobby lobby  you'd think Christmas was here already ,even stores like Dollar  General is putting Christmas out but on a sewing note I've been going through fabrics that I've had forever & a day

I'm thinking of making a strip quilt inspired by Marys Quilts, making notes & coming up with a plan

I'm planning to use a different print for each of the focus strips& this still wont put a dent in these fabrics, last year I made potholders, the year before that aprons, the year before that pillows 🙆it wont go away! 🤣

On a cooking note ,I rarely ever do fried foods but when I have a taste for them I try to keep it to just enough to satisfy the taste which makes it easy for the skillet to multitask orka & squash 😄

orka ,squash with ranch dressing ,buttered rice, sweet petite english peas chicken with honey mustard, I've got to buy another little grill & get back on track to healthier eating

Natures Beauty At Its Finest

Two days of overcast skies & it finally decided to rain ,but just enough to get things wet but enough to cause nature to  bloom out in all its glory

Do You Like History?

In my younger days I always liked History class ,guess that's why I'm drawn to  history on fabrics, sewing ,quilts etc. I came across these at our local Charles n Charge book store

Scanning through them they seem to be rich in history of  the people who made the quilts as well as family life, war times etc.

On another note I found #13 in Jan Karons Mitford series, there are 14 books in this series & I've only 2 more to  complete the series

I'd went out of town with my friend Ree to a fabric warehouse to get another carload of drapery fabrics lining etc. to finish up a big job shes been working on for nearly a year, she suggested that I use quilting thread to make hand stitching show up better, so I'll given them a try & see🤷 what are your thoughts on quilting threads?
