Going For The Finish

 I'm coming in on the home stretch for the binding!  

the days not over till midnight,right?🤣

Sadie spent the night & has been a big help in the sewing room lol its a sunny 70 degrees today but the wind is having to put its  two cents worth in so it doesn't feel like  70 when you need a light jacket, oh! & my new sewing machine came! I'll have to go & have the Manuel printed out, the sewing room looks like fabric exploded like diamite 😄 reshuffling a few things ,cant set the new machine up in the middle of ugly🤣  plans for today is to cook something delicious, finish binding the quilt,take Grace 🐕& Sadie🐕 to the park & a  quilt photo shoot

I'm Not Supposed To Be Making These Blocks!🤣

 I think this is a case where the say I had a squirrel 🐿️ in the sewing room😄 I was on a good roll starting with the final decision on a border for the  patch quilt & have it binded by the weekend 

then I started making more bonus blocks,I couldn't seem to stop myself😄

 I've got too much to finish up on Casons & Livvys quilts,I don't know how the squirrel got in but he needs to go!🤣  Do you sometimes start strong & then get distracted?

Auditioning Borders

 Yesterday didn't go as planned, hopefully it will today 😄 we are expecting a server storm to come through in the next few hours so I definitely need to get to the store, meanwhile I was playing around with a few options for a border on the patchwork quilt

going through the fabric totes,I came across some pink polka dot strips,I obviously had a plan for them 🤔 but what?lol there's enough light pink check to squeeze out a border,the green specks has a dark tea stain color background,maybe go with a solid color🤷  I'm not going to overthink it but will go through alllll the totes just once 🤣

The Makings Of A Bonus Quilt

 When you get to your witts end of the same scraps over & over & then the scraps of the scraps 🤣 I've heard some call these moments making bonus quilts because nothing is invested but time,so Im giving these scraps one more chance but after this I'm not promising nothing🤣 let's start with my leftovers from  the sheets that I sometimes use for backing

I've been working on cutting these leftovers into 5" squares

Beginnings of strip blocks

So far I have 13 blocks

After Christmas I gathered a few clearance tins, It'll hold them for now ,their purpose is to hold 2 1/2" squares ,strips etc.

The sewing machine that I ordered has already been shipped & is half way here,which means I should clean the sewing room & get ready for our new arrival,but for now that's enough playing around with strip blocks ,tiditying up the sewing room& working on Casons & Livvys quilt is on the agenda for today

Biting The Bullet & Working on Backings

 One more row to sew onto Livvys quilt,I still see dome puckering that needs to be delt with 

Carson's dinosaur's is turning out so cute! If you're just catching up to these two quilts,Livvy & Cason are my nieces grandbabies,Cason will soon turn 6 with Livvy coming up behind him soon  to turn 4 

Now about that bullet🤣 I ordered this beauty this morning,not only did the price drop since I last looked at it but free shipping! Oh God is good! It should arrive within 3--5 business days

Finally Ready For Binding

 I have stitched on this patchwork off & on in-between projects for over a year, when times call to walk away from.more important projects like when the machine acts up lol, its actually been in the flimsy collection for  two years,the plan was to have it completely finished tonight by bringing the backing over to create a blinding bit one side didn't reach the edge of the backing so now I have to make a binding

Just another row or two to stitch & resew on Livvy's quilt then get it backed & ready for stitching , tomorrow will be dedicated to working on her quilt & Cason's dinosaur quilt

Thinking About A New Machine

 I'm thinking its time for a new machine,my Singer has always been my backup with the Brother digital being my main machine but my last move parts got separated ,anywho the ole Singer is starting to be a pain,the tension messes up every time! i change a bobbin out,the bobbin shank pops out 

Anyways I've been looking at this one,reviews seem to be good on it,I finally found the manual which has to be downloaded

I especially like this bundle with the extra  large extension tray

Today was a day for no streiod pill for Grace,she takes it every other day now & I can tell  it makes a difference in her pain level & so can she so I encourage her to lay down & rest snuggled up beside me & then that aww feeling hits her lol 

Still Stitching Along

 Spent the morning looking for pj's for a friend who was admitted to the hospital,that didn't turn out well  so I felt like I was sent on a wild goose chase lol but I did meet up with my great niece -n-law at World Market & of course came home with some new  herb tea flavors

Got home just in time to walk with my neighbor,!I shared some of my teas with her,,she wanted me to stay & have a cup with her ,when I got back to the house ,me & Grace went to or a burger 🍔 I  was too tired  to cook & hungry ,after giving Grace her meds for the night,I got the patch quilt out & started stitching on it some more, it's getting close to the finish line!

When You Want A Quilt So Bad 🤣

 Grace is definitely doing better,today we start tapering off the steroids,which is good,they make her sooooo hungry!I was trying to measure the blue flimsy to the pink quilt that is the same layout,as you can see she quickly shot under it so I just worked around her 🤣

For the backing I will use the blue checkered sheet,it seems like it'll  be wide enough even with a border but if not I can pull from the fitted sheet

Im thinking a 1 & 1/2  to a 2" checkered border & a 2& 1/2" border of the blue 

& yellow tone floral print

I'm having to unstitch a few rows on Livvys quilt top,ohhh this machine is going to get a bashing with the hammer 🔨 🤣

I'm also thinking of adding a cat to one of the blocks in her quilt,the pattern says applicade but I'm thinking  of  adding it with an eraseable pen & stitching it  since there will be a lot of hand stitching throughout the quilt

When It Rains It Pours

 Even in a trencheral downpour the birds will come ,some of the cardinals were so wet they looked like you could squeeze the water out of them 😄

You Know You're Tired When....

 I'm not sure if it eas tiredness or seeing good😄 last night I noticed I'd sewn an extra row on this X 😄 so I figured I'd better call it a night, I'm not even going to bother taking it out seeing that its purpose is to hang out here with me lol

Grace is helping me make sure that's the only one & seeing how many more X's in the blocks to go

 

I came across an idea to use up your scraps, I'd already made up my mind that these scraps were nit going into another quilt🤣but yet I thought I'd give it try & see how I feel about them,so I do have scraps & yardages of white from sheets I've used for backings so I'll randomly make a few 5" scrappy blocks here & there,no overthinking " ok maybe a little "just grab um & sew & see how many quilts come out of the scraps that were destined for the trash

Happy Valentine's Day/Update On Grace

 

Are you having a beautiful Valentine's day? Stores & restaurants will be packed out for sure , I was planning on seeing a movie with my niece but those plans changed,my Grace🐕 had to go to the vet yesterday,her spine has flarred up again causing chronic pain

The pain doesn't allow her to jump so she's missing her snuggle time with me ,as the meds started kicking in last night,she started crying & shaking, when Id get near her she'd become at ease,so I camped out with her,as long as she could feel me near her she rested better,she slept good & sound till around 1am,I coxed her to go outside & she curled back up & went back to sleep,at this point she was content to let me sleep on the couch as long as she could see me

30 days of antibiotics, pain meds & steroids,on a sewing note the blue flimsy is almost ready for a reveal,I found the sweetest light blue checkered sheet set for the backing

Cant Believe I'm 70🤣

 My niece went all out for my birthday,friends & family  showing their love 💕 

the cake was glorious! my wedding cake didn't even hold a candle to it lol 

I finally got old enough to get a money tree 🤣 this is a tradition my sister & me started with mom & dad when they turned 70 & 70th anniversary ,I think I counted a little over $50 on my tree lol
