Project Hauls & A Taste Of Fall

I'm down to 5 more days to get everything ready for my Fall family/friends dinner,2 rooms to go for deep cleaning & decorating, there's a lot going down in the sewing room so it'll get cleaned up last ,would you like to see a little taste of my decor I'm working on?

Meanwhile September is pillowcases with a cause month,I hit Hobby Lobby's sale the other day & picked up 30 yards which will make 30 pillowcases so once Sunday dinner is over everybody's gotta go!🤣just kidding but I will get started cutting them out that night

RSC quilt blocks are winding down ,these last few months the colors are dark's,browns & blacks,I've never really made a black themed block but decide to give them a chance ,if they don't work out they'll be sad little orphans😄 so I picked up a few fat quarters Joann's has them on sale for $1.49

When I ventured out into the world of slow stitching I figured I'd better up my thread collection with more pretty colors ,no rhyme of reason for these colors just yet ,they just called me🤣

Speaking of slow stitching, the more I look at the ANN & Andy page the more I see that could be embellished, how do you make it stop!🤣

Make It Work

Do you ever know there's enough fabric but the layout just won't work ? I had this left over fabric from making pillow covers last year & wanted an apron,

If I folded it upward I could squeak out a carpenter style apron if I folded the pattern which would mean a seam down the middle ,problem was one side the print would be upside down, then those wallpaper skills from long ago kicked in 🤣I folded one that was cut out then lined the edge up,the loaded the overall precut one across it to cut around the other side giving a full front panel

Determination or crazy 🤷 all I know is it works for me!😄

We had some hard rain &  heavy wind today ,some of the smaller doves were hanging around at the front door like let me in!😄

Caught Up With RSC Blocks

I managed to squeeze out another orange block

2 teals

Dark browns & blacks are the colors for September,I've got one cut out & ready to sew together

There's rough weather in the forecast with rain so today's been a little on the cool side but pleasant enough to sit outside, sewing, old movies, an unplanned nap🤣& making spaghetti for dinner made for a good  slow & easy day

One Orange Block Down!

Got one orange block together,I'm not sure if there'll be enough scraps to make another one ,going  back through the colors for each month,I somehow missed the teals 😄 so guess I'll pull out those sad little scraps tomorrow lol

Almost finished embellishing this page for the journal,I can't seem to make my French knots tight enough

I just noticed I didn't send this post yesterday,I must of really been tired😄 actually I am lol it's been a month nearly since I've been able to do anything & my niece helped me clean the house top to bottom the other day with only 2 rooms to go ,so "tomorrow" in this post is today so guess I'd better get to sewing🤣

What's For Dinner?

This is football weekend so you definitely don't want to get out in the crazy traffic ,unless you're going to the game 😄so it was a clean the house kind of day ,for dinner I made sweet potato fries ,some people like salt some like sugar on theirs ,it's neither for me,I luv the natural sweetness that they have, buttered Brussels, pan seared steak cooked slow & easy lathered up with lots of butter & seasonings

I think I'll chance a run to the store before the game ends ,come home & put on my pj's & call it a day with a good cup of coffee

Read A Book Day & Today's Project

Today is National Reading Day ,I may take time to pull out a book when I retire to my bed tonight😄 going through pictures I came across one when Grace was a year old , she's five now & doesn't have time for reading as her life is full of adventures with her bestie Sadie 😄

Today is a rainy day,my favorite days for sewing, starting tomorrow my niece is coming to help deep clean the house so one more day to play lol today's agenda is closet purging & pretty hangers

There's plans later to go to Hobby Lobby with a friend depending on the weather,if it's a go, I'll grab some fabrics for pillowcases

A Tight Squeeze On The Oranges

And I do mean tight! for this year's RSC (rainbow scrappy challenge) I had the bright idea to go big! like 12"blocks each month the new color is announced ,so far so good till I got to the oranges 🙆 the block I choose has (2) 6 1/2"squares (4)  3 1/2" squares, (16) 2" squares for each block,I squeezed out one layout but not sure if there's enough yardage in the scraps for another but I'll keep squeezing!🤣

16 Patch Top Finish

It's a PJ no housework kind of day ! throughout the day I worked on sewing the 16 patch blocks together & got them to the quilt top stage,at this point it measures out 53x69

I made a few potholders today as well, they just need closing up & some quilting on the top

I came across a quilt on one of the sites I follow & noticed the 16 patch block right off,I've never considered a white background but this ideal is calling me 😄

Slow Days Make For Slow Stitching

Embellishing Ann & Andy for the journal

It's September! Time for  Ryan's Case For Smiles ,their goal for 2024 is 40 thousand pillowcases

I've always enjoyed participating in this wonderful cause, shipping can get expensive depending the weight of how many but oh so worth it but there is now a drop off an hour from me which I've made the drive last year & it makes for a nice little road trip, especially when the drop off is at a fabric shop! LoL

Along with my slow day was taking the extra grilled chicken that I'd cooked yesterday & made broccoli pineapple chicken ,I didn't have cornstarch to thicken the sauce but that didn't stop it from being good!

More Quilting Decisions

Kate's lastest quilt of The Last Homely House is  bear claw blocks sashing with bright green🤔it looks great but that's out of my comfort zone but I do want to venture out "just a little" from the same ole same ole, so I bought 5 yards 🤣 I don't want to cut into it not knowing which direction it'll go 🤔back to the store?🤣 Just kidding ,so I pulled it up from the bottom to try to get an over all visual, so sashing  or backing only? decisions decisions 😄
