Fall Quilt Progress

Five days into the new month,do you have fresh ideas & plans for October? I have lots of ideas lol but  plans for October are to be a month for finishes, the center of the Fall quilt is  quilted with vertical lines 

Progress is being made with stitching vertical lines across the 4 patch border

Pumpkin templetes made with a cookie 

cutter, back years ago my Aunt taught me to use what you have,nature,cookie cutters,pictures to trace 

She wasn't big on fancy templates,patterns ,stencils etc.after all they didn't exist in her day , she always said you can have any design on a quilt, its as easy as going outside & finding a pretty leaf,you just stitch around your templet made  from parchment paper then tear away the paper

Here we are generations later ,measuring, multiplying etc to figure out how many blocks we need😄 her measurement system was to lay out the blocks across the bed ,pin blocks to the sides till you get the drape length you want ,she sewed her tops on her original singer treadal machine & hand stitched  them one stitch at a time on a 100 year old wooden frame that took up over half a room ,I have leaves drying that i gathered from the yard & rinsed off to use for templetes
