Who Let The Squirrel In?😄

 Not only did the squirrel get in,it took me down the rabbit hole 😄 letting my fingers rest up before getting back to hand stitching ,I thought I'd pull the red & white blocks back out

The original plan is a 7x8 layout yeilding (56) 12" 9 patch blocks,looking at the fabric I have left it doesn't look like there's enough fabric for 56 blocks,strips of (2 reds & (1) white & (2) whites & (1) red are sewn together & cut into 4 1/2" strips,each  yield 9 giving 3 blocks from each section 

Figuring out how many sections for a block with what's left its not adding up,I have more red but no more white

I really don't want a lap size in this because its a more expensive fabric & to fancy for snuggling lol,iif you can enlarge the pic you can see the rose imprints throughout,I've thought about maybe cutting  it down to 2 1/2" squares& possibly adding red prints 🤷but for now I think it needs to go back to the closet ,outta sight outta mind& focus  on the church house quilt 😄 

The Freshness Of Raindrops

 There's something peaceful about the beauty of raindrops & that could just be me & that's ok 😄 but I just luv raindrops on my flowers after a rain 

Beauty In The Rain

 We've had scattered showers off ,& on all day,there was a break between 10:00 & 12:00 ,all the signs on the weather app was there so my niece & me decided to make a run for it,all was well untill 5 minutes into being back to the car here came the rain,the only only that made it out dry was the baby all covered up inside her stroller 🤣 ,once back home I gave Grace🐕 & Sadie 🐕 a bath& when the rain subsided we took Sadie 🐕 home, the rains supposed to linger all week ,so nothing to do but quilt! quilt! quilt!

A Change Of Plans

 Hanging out in my pj's all day stitching with moderate cleaning lol turned into picking Sadie 🐕up,Ms Molly texted asking if I could keep Sadie as they had an emergency & had to go to Tenn. ,Grace 🐕was excited to say the least so quilting turned into a park adventure& later this evening  a walk with my neighbors, hoping to get some stitching in tomorrow evening 

How Does Your Garden Grow?

 A little here,a little there,it grows a little everywhere 😄 so far I have a few things growing in large pots & old tires,Im thinking of pulling the old ladder out of the shed  for green beans to climb up onto & using a flour bed on the side of the house for a veggie garden ,on a sewing note ,lots of  hand stitching is on the agenda for today

Lets Start At The End This Time

 It usually never fails for something to happen when I'm nearing the end of a quilt , needle breaks, don't have as much fabric as I thought I did & the list goes on & on 😄 so I thought I'd do the last things first after getting the quilt sandwiched & ready for stitching, this morning I cut 7 strips,sewed them together,folded & pressed & rolled onto a tube from a roll of aluminum foil,got the prayer block made,I wasn't about to run just this little thing through the washer so I hand washed & dried with a blow dryer twice,it will go on the back of the quilt

Getting Ready For Lots Of Stitching

 No matter how hard I tried to make it fit there just wasn't enough of the plum floral & not enough width of the  solid plum to make a wide strip down the middle so I went with the original plan to add 9" to each side

Then to measure top & back to the batting 

Then flip the back over,get it sandwiched & a good trim,it is now ready for basting & pinning then on to hundreds of stitches & numb fingers🤣

Getting Started On The Church Quilt

 Got the binding onto the blue quilt

then laid the church panel  & when I went to line up the backing,it wasn't wide enough,

even if I cut it into 2 pieces it wouldn't be long enough & the shop I got it from is an hour away ,so that was out,thankfully I had a solid in my stash that will  perfectly but then there was math to do😄 I will need to add 9" to each side,or in the middle? I dont have time to overthink it ,that's for sure😄

so this is far as I got on this today as I had an outting to our first strawberry festival ,so I had to stop & get ready for my niece to pick me up,I took her & the kids to supper ,back home & into my pj's & called it a day,bright & early I will ponder how to do the baking while sipping my coffee 😄

Prep Work Done For Next In Line

With the blue quilt I originally was bringing the backing over to the front to create a binding but I was not liking the look of it, the texture of the fabric was too soft to hold a good shape so I trimmed it down & went through some of my stash & cut (7) 2 & 1/2" strips of this deep mustard color,I will get my neighbors daughters church quilt l started in the morning 

I came across a link explaining how to determine how many strips down to how much fabric for your binding, 

width+width +length+length 

Add 10"

Divide by 40 or WOF

Round up to the nearest number for number of  2 1/2" strips

Has anyone used this method?

 You cant have good pictures without a little sillyness mixed in😄  they luved their quilts,they were so cute walking me to the car when I left telling me to lock my door & be careful with lots of hugs & kisses

Down To The Binding!

 Why is it when we're sooooo close we've got to pause?I don't like pausing when I'm on the finish line🤣 I had a man coming to cut a tree down so that ment no laxed morning in my pj's 😄 had to go to the store & by the bank ,my niece doesn't get off till 5 ,there's an hour drive to meet up & pick up her grands "Livvy & Cason" depending on wait time,talking, transitioning from car to car,an hour back ,they should get back to her house by 7:00🤷it is 11:40 ,if I cant bind 2 lap quilts 6 hrs just shoot me🤣

I've moved the machine to the cutting table to stabilize the quilts better,bindings are ready,trying out the new clips,got the labels sewn on,lets do this!
