Scrappy String Blocks

What's in the can? I luv pretty tins, back a few years ago my mom was going to toss this out & I said no you don't πŸ˜„ now I can look back at when she fussed & told me to put it in the trash

These string blocks has been growing for what seems like 2 years

I've added 9 more to the mix which now make for  84, for Full size with a 11 X 15 layout I'll need 81 more before borders, will the tin hold them all?🀷

I wanted to share an idea I got from Terri Roland back when I made her colorwash quilt, she pinned 2-3 flannel backed table cloths & laid out her blocks, when she'd worked on them enough she'd just roll it up ,take it out & unroll it the next time she worked on arranging her blocks, because its flannel the blocks stay in place,

I've got 81 more blocks to make before I do this with mine,I have 2 large square flannel blacked tablecloths pinned together with safety pins, for larger layouts just pin on another table cloth, this method works out well if you don't have a design board  or if the boards busy with other projects lol just roll it up till you're ready to work on your layout

When not in use it stays folded on a shelf in the sewing room closet

  1. Happy Tuesday, Helen. I love tins too. They are great storage containers and so many of them are so decorative. Yours is awesome. Your string blocks look fabulous. They are so pretty seeing them all laid out. Great idea on the tablecloth. I am going to try that . Hugs
