Flower Inspections & Leftover Wonders

 I had 2 chicken tenders from when I made the lemon thyme marinade from my lemon thyme herb,a fresh garden tomato from my neighbor & a lemon thyme chicken sandwich was born!😄

Grace is a good helper in checking on the flowers for bugs,making sure they smell good for the butterflies lol

the first swallow tail butterfly came through the backyard,what a beauty!

the veggies are still holding on,something are my squash🤷but there's 2 eggplants coming out& the cherry tomatoes still hanging in there

It has been extremely hot here ,this week will teach as high as 109,weather man says it's the hottest week of the year,a good week to stay inside & catch up on sewing projects for sure! most of my days been just that starting with finishing up some Pillowcases for a children's hospital 

New Recipes & Pillowcase Beginnings

I tried a new recipe with my lemon thyme, Lemon Thyme Marinade,I had everything except a lemon,well who wants to go to the store just for a lemon? so I opted for lime😄 it still turned out pretty good & will likely make it again with the lemon😁 since my herb was lemon thyme I figured it made up for the lemon taste lol

I luv growing,sometimes trying to grow things & experimenting with new things in the kitchen,I also added a little of the marinade to some leftover noodles & they were delicious! meanwhile in the sewing room ,I've started making pillowcases for Ryans Case For Smiles,a children's cancer hospital,there's a pile on the serger table waiting to be sewn,a pile on the cutting table waiting to be cut,there's about to be a pillowcase explosion in the sewing room🤣

LEMON THYME MARINADE

2 lb.meat or vegetable

2 large lemons zested & juiced

4 cloves garlic

3 tbsp.olive oil

1/4 cup chopped herb

salt/pepper to taste

Chili flakes optional

Mix all ingredients, marinate for 20min up to an hour,grill & enjoy!

Butterflies & Puppy Dog Tails

 It's amazing how many different species of butterflies there are,I've been Googling info. & how they get their names ,the big brown one is a Silver Spotted Skipper,the tiny brown ones,I thought were babies lol turns out to be Fiery Skippers,the yellow is a Sleepy Orange sulphur ,the color & position of the dots etc.determin their names 🤔 seriously who decides these things,I wantta know🤣

Grace🐕 & me have our sweet Sadie with us this weekend,her fur parents are in New Orleans retiring from the Navy,it's been really to hot & humid to go much of anywhere but they're content to play in the backyard in the late evenings

He Would Be 70 Today

 Today marks a heavenly 70th for my soulmate,the luv of my life since I was barely 18,just one year shy of what would be our 50th wedding anniversary,7 yrs without him still feels like an eternity at times,I am truly blessed to have called him mine

Us way back in 1974,our kids use to ask us if we were hippies 🤣

Backyard Beauties & A Walk In the Park

 The purple Martins are starting to come back through & this butterfly seems to be happy with all the zinnias to choose from,my dream is to plant thousands of them,yea I luv Zinnias🤣

We had an unusually little cool spurt come through so Grace 🐕& me took advantage & headed to one of our favorite parks that runs long side the river

 Today's temperature s back to humid & hot so looks like a day of staying close & working on projects in the sewing room 

Quilt & Puzzle Similarities

 trying to get my blocks to flow into a color wash effect is like putting a puzzle together 😄 but time will work itself out as there's two more months to go for the RSC (rainbow Scrappy challenge) & lots & lots more blocks to make & put together 

meanwhile,I'm working on getting some UFO quilt tops put together,I think then they're called flimsy s? lol 

My 1st little eggplant 🍆 it was losing it's rich purple color so   I figured it wasn't going to get any bigger ,fried this little baby up for lunch today!😊

Mondays Yellows

 8 more Scrappy blocks for the RSC,which now makes 28 for yellow,I probably won't be sure if they'll need to be more added till the end when I start laying out all the colors

meanwhile I decided to jump on on the make blocks with the scraps of your scraps blocks wagon🤣

🙆 so did I just start another quilt?🤣 oh it got worse,from the scraps of the scraps of the scraps I've started making 2" blocks🤣

and that's how the scrappy yellow madness began🤣
