Christmas In July Recap

For July I most worked on odd & end things that I wanted done for Christmas so not to be sewing at the last minute,I finally got the Christmas rustic fabrics cut & sewn into a top

Three Christmas aprons, half of my pattern is hiding from me so I used one I'd made as a pattern

A few primitive snowmen

Id made pillow forms & had these pillow covers cut out from last year ,the buffalo check pillows are 24X24 the skate print is a 18X18

Not much perhaps but it'll be good to have the main decor projects behind me, 

The first day of Fall is less than five weeks away & I will have Sunday dinner that day for family but before that I will be having surgery on my arm to remove a skin cancer that has grown the size of nickel & still growing, I won't be able to use that arm & never know how pain meds affect you so I'm trying to get the house ready for Fall & catch up on some of my bigger sewing projects 

Christmas In July Week 4

 
A few potholders & pillow covers ,the grey buffalo check are 24x24,  traditional envelope style,the ice skate print is is 18x18  a new way I tried out using one piece of fabric by multiplying the width x 2 plus 5" so length will be 41"x18 ,hem the ends fold sides over & sew on

Later closer to Christmas I'll pull in some reds & the skate pillow may go somewhere else lol

Survivers In The Garden

 From gardenias rescued off deaths row in the garden center to New buds emerging down to the last blooms they are all survivors ,each containing their own uniqueness of beauty that perhaps can only be seen in the eyes of the beholder,let us enjoy this beautiful day God has given us with eyes wide open!

Rainey Day Walks

 It's funny how the weather can be crazy sometimes,no rain in sight as I headed out with Grace to the park,by the time I got almost there it came a down pour & within minutes the roads were flooding over so I turned & headed back home 👀dry as a bone on my side ,thinking ok it's stopped I circled around & went on the other side of town ,raining! by the time I'd got to park "2 it'd stopped just enough to make a quick walk 

Backyard Wonders

 Butterfly's fluttering,bees buzzing  having a feast of nectar & pollen off the flowers & squash plants

Somewhere between now & Christmas I have a niece-n-law  that wants me to make pillows from her dad's shirts,looks easy enough but I think I'll practice on some of mine 👀once you cut a shirt ,it's cut lol

I have fallen in luv with making my own pillow covers for the different seasons but don't get me wrong I've a few retail beauties as well lol! Last year I made Fall pillows & with pillow forms being expensive as they are I made my own

There are Christmas ones in the works  as part of my Christmas in July projects 

Final Scrappy Layout

 I spent way too much time fussing with this one lol ,it took a lot more blocks than I anticipated,my brain was locked in on 10" blocks I guess because that was my last one but these are 6" but anyway, it's over😄

the trick to it was to just leave it where it was & add to it as I went ,if I needed to move it I could just roll it up,I pinned two large rectangle flannel backed tablecloths together ,make sure you get the ones with flannel backing so your blocks will stay in place

I'm not too happy with these primitive snowmen,I'm not sure if I should tweak or toss them,they were some  left over from last years UFOs which they were done in the whites & silvers,I should had left well enough alone🤣

Another Beautiful Rainy Morning

 The rain has set in more this morning leaving us with a dark rainy morning with a gentle cool breeze making it bearable to have coffee & watch the birds for a little while but first did you see that beautiful moon last night?

the clouds seemed to look like angle wings 

The  male hummingbird  to the one that came yesterday visited the feeder this morning 

She was close by ,I'm not sure if make& females feed together 🤔I'll have to consult the bird books lol

On a garden note one of the squash plants has put out it's first blooms & I spotted tiny ones peeking out on the cherry tomatoe plant

On a sewing note ,I added a few more blocks to the scrappy quilt layout,I want to add a few more purples to round out the bottom left corner,come down with a few more yellows on the upper right corner & adding  a row of reds ,rounding it off with browns blacks & greys

I think this one is taking me longer because I usually make my scrappy blocks 10" & these are 6" so it's taking more blocks than I thought,I've heard to take a photo in black & white to see if the lights & darks are evenly distributed throughout the quilt,well I'm no expert on that but it's looking kind of balanced to me ,if you have an eye for these things  let me know😁
