How Many Black Skirts??

 When it comes to skirts,basic black is a must whether straight, ruffled,Maxie,linen,silky, lacey,& so on,I'd been talking to a friend about black skirts & the need to add them back into my wardrobe after some weight loss,so she says bring what black fabrics you have & patterns & we'll see what suits what

getting new measurements,cutting & altering down the patterns as I'm 5'1" lol I have 4 skirts to sew together & guess what was in the kitchen! She made me a Carmel cake! 

It's been a Rainey day here today but still had a few visitors at one of my feeders,the chipmunk & the cardinal looked like they were in cahoots with each other lol 

I'm down to my dough bowl of scraps to sort by color,hopefully this will make Scrappy block choices go quicker

We're in for a cold weekend so I'm hoping to get in some sewing finishes, make a few more pink blocks for RSC & get started on those black skirts

 

Let's Get Organized

 Is there really such a thing as organized when it comes to sewing,quilting,creating & all the other things that go down in the sewing room? LoL today's the first of Feb. a new month filled with days of fresh starts ,new beginnings & let's don't forget catching up on those UFO's lurking about the sewing room

I've got a good start on my pink blocks for Feb. rainbow Scrappy challenge,got them all organized with fabrics & scraps I'm using to make a color wash quilt,a color is posted each month & pink is for Feb.

back to organizing,I've been sorting my scraps by color,it just seemed the thing to do so we'll see how it goes as far as working out better when it comes to quilting etc I chose to separate them in gallon size baggies & put them in the large tote of fabrics I use for quilting to take up less room,what's not big enough for a strip or 1"-2" block gets moved to the crumb pile,my pile runneth over! LoL! how's your February going so far? today I will be organizing the sewing room "just to mess it up again"🤣& finishing up some UFO "me"projects

Are You Still "Blue"

 Jan.is fastly coming to an end & it's been fun following everyone's journey of blue projects,in-between still trying to decide which pattern to go with for 2023 there's been a need to bake cookies ,we'll take any excuse to bake cookies,right LoL

there's been a lot of yellow finches coming through visiting the feeders& the woodpecker is back,I named him Woody LoL

back in the sewing room,while still in the deciding mode of what is to be my main quilt for RSC I'm working on the color wash method

there are so many that have caught my eye ,flying geese,mason jars,zig zag,a simple 9 patch......🤔could this be why we make so many? LoL

A Day In The Sewing Room

 finally getting my 2022 RSC put together,got 2 rows sewn together,I'm hoping to get it quilted by the end of this month, we'll see!

I'm still not sure which way to go for 2023 ,I'm leaning towards something big ,& quick 😄meanwhile thought I'd try the color wash method finishing my blocks out at 4"

A friend loaded me down with fabrics & vintage patterns,lots of beautiful linens,silks,cottons,denims, wools for apparel sewing,we get together from time to time ,- sew till we can't sew no more,there's more days like that in our future lol

I whipped up a few potholders/hot pads from some of my scrapes,I think the coffee print is my favorite

 

B Is For Blue!

 Here we are at a new year for the Rainbow Scrappy challenge starting the year off with blues,I'm still not sure which way of blocks I'll go for this year,the mason jar quilts have caught my eye as the teenie tiny Scrappy blocks so many decisions ! but I've got to make one! LoL meanwhile while I'm pondering that thought I'm making up some Scrappy hot pads in blues

Christmas In The Sewing Room

 I was hoping to get some Christmas sewing in but my right hand wouldn't let me with fingers swollen & excruciating pain,hoping to catch up on some projects in a few days as new ones are itching to begin lol 

Working With Borders

 cutting out the borders for  the little house quilt & getting a visual of how it'll look,there will be 3" border top & bottom & both sides with. 2" border in-between the  houses & block borders,I've got to get busy if I'm going to get it finished by the new year
