The Lights & Darks of Yellow

 How are you coming along with your yellows for RSC? I'm up to 20 so far, trying to figure how many per color for a good lap size shy of a full I came up with the 200 range but as the months go by I'm thinking it's going to depend how they're place ,it doesn't seem like they'll flow if I have the same amount of each color

I'd seen a while back ,the idea of taking a B/W photo to determine the lights & darks for a better flow of color,does anyone use this method of placing blocks?

I think the idea is like the 2nd one down be swapped out with the one straight across next to the end🤷 I guess there's no need to overthink this method till the whole tops ready to be assembled lol,untill then I'll just keep making my little blocks😄

Embroidery s Not For The Faint Of Heart

 

🤣 I've  always wanted to embroidery,I've watched  You Tube videos & practiced stitches till I'm blue 🤣I decided to just open my little pattern  & let it be what it is ,why is it so nerve racking 🤣 possibly overthinking lol I've fought this one leaf for at least an hour lol

I've been told to hang in there,that I'll luv it,that it's calming🤔I'm not sure when the calmness will kick in but got my practice hoop beside me 🤣

I Miss Sewing 4 Me

 We can't do everything we luv all at once,but oh how we try lol,I was on a good roll around the first of the year,then I was blessed with 3 months to the Ginger Cook painting Academy 

later picked back up on sewing for me,once again it took a backseat,this time to quilting,quilts just for me,quilting contest,quilting sewalongs,I have two UFO dresses cut out ,the plans are to get them done by the weekend ,since UFO's are the focus this week there'll be a few UFO'S finished into quilt tops & may squeak some projects in-between lol

Happy Sunday & A Facetime Surprise

 Last night all was calm ,you know that moment you get into your pj's & settled in for the night? 🤔now who would be calling me at this time of night? LoL none other than my sweet little neice from Oklahoma! the conversation went like this

Gracie: hello! ready to paint?

Me: paint?now?right now?

Gracie:yes right now👀

Me: what are we painting?

Gracie:a fox

Me:a fox? I need a pic,I need a tutorial ,a fox? how about a pot with flowers

Gracie:you should be painting your background  we will do the pot with flowers

well needless to say speed painting outta my head produced a pot of wilted flowers,lots of laughter,bonding & sweet memories

I told her this was like a teacher giving a pop quiz 🤣

It's A Finish! It's A Tie! It's A Tie Quilt Finish!

 It's starting to rain messing up my photo shoot 😄 If you think a tie quilt goes quicker think again!😄over 200/5" squares sewn together,tied & knotted with yard on each corner & center of the blocks ,as it's all flannels I used a sheet for batting as it's heavy enough, yesterday was it's day to get the binding sewn down ,this is my first & possibly last full size quilt 🤣out of all through the years I believe this one is & will always be my favorite,not so much of what I've created but sweet memories it brings of sleeping under a grandmothers flannel tied quilt oh so long ago

No Sewing When My Bestie Visits

 A fun filled day "all day" with my bestie Faye, we've been the best of friends through thick & thin for over 20 years,we started off with an early breakfast at the Huddle House

then off to the power company to pay our power bills,cause neither of us likes being in the dark😄 then off to the store,it was a make it up as you go kind of day ,strolling through the isles deciding what to cook for dinner,decisions were made & we headed to my house, pie in the oven.tea seeping, noodles cooking,eggs boiling ,chops outside on the grill,oh yes we had it going on!🤣 & finally......

*Buttermilk pie

*Red Velvet whoopie pies

*English pea salad

*BBQ grilled chops

*Faye's scratch Mac& cheese

*Sweet tea

we always make dessert first so we can watch a movie & sample while things are cooking in the kitchen lol! dinner was served along with two more movies before Grace🐕 & me had to take her home,we got back with just enough time to snuggle on the couch with one more movie & one of those whoopie pies with a glass of milk🤣

Yellows For Aug. New Projects & Garden happenings

 A brand new month brings a brand new color , for RSC (rainbow Scrappy challenge) 💛 yellow is the color for Aug,I've been pulling out my yellows as I clean ,& do around the sewing room & getting a little jump start

the three yards of milk can fabric has served me well beginning with an apron,then pillows & today a small runner for my little table in the kitchen

in the garden the squash is coming in for round 3 ,the eggplants are outta control lol I counted 5 pretty good sized ones & 8 hiding under the leaves

this beautiful Gulf Fillery butterfly has been fluttering around the flowers the last few days,the rich viberant color indeifies him to be a male, underneath his wings are just as beautiful as the viberant orange  on top of his wings
